Be Careful What You Wish For

7/24/2024

Psalm 106:12-15

(Verse 1)

They believed His words, sang His praise so loud

But soon forgot His works, got lost in the crowd.

Craved their own desires, in the desert heat,

Testing God in the wasteland, heart skipping beats.

(Chorus)

They wanted what they wanted, and they wanted it now,

Prayers went up high, and blessings came down.

But what they craved brought their souls to decay,

He granted their wish, but sent leanness their way.

(Verse 2)

Memory short, faith on the decline,

Forgot the One who saved, every single sign.

Desires uncontrolled, wild in their minds,

God answered them still, though their hearts were blind.

(Chorus)

They wanted what they wanted, and they wanted it now,

Prayers went up high, and blessings came down.

But what they craved brought their souls to decay,

He granted their wish, but sent leanness their way.

(Bridge)

Be careful what you wish for, in your deepest night,

You might get your answer, but lose the light.

Trust in His wisdom, follow His way,

Remember His works, and don’t go astray.

(Chorus)

They wanted what they wanted, and they wanted it now,

Prayers went up high, and blessings came down.

But what they craved brought their souls to decay,

He granted their wish, but sent leanness their way.

“Then they believed His words;

They sang His praise.

They soon forgot His works;

They did not wait for His counsel,

But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness,

And tested God in the desert.

And He gave them their request,

But sent leanness into their soul.”
